Speedy Tuesday – The First Speedmaster Professional Moonphase 1985

It's Speedy Tuesday today and after the recent passing away of Neil Armstrong – perhaps the most famous Speedy owner – we thought we need to focus on a special Speedy. What would be better than to put a Speedmaster in the spotlight that has a moon and stars on the dial?

One of our friends and avid readers of Fratellowatches sent us two pictures of his ref. 345.0809 Speedmaster Professional Moonphase. This particular model has been re-introduced in 1999 with some minor changes to the dial (and a modern bracelet). However, Speedy enthusiasts prefer the original model which has a somewhat cleaner dial and the famous reference 1450 bracelet .

The movement inside is a cal.866 (nowadays a caliber 1866 after an upgrade in the late 1990s), which is basically the caliber 861 movement with an add-on module for the moon phase and date complications.This watch has a clean case back, only the Seamaster logo has been engraved as we know it from other Speedmaster Pro watches as well. There is no 'First Watch Worn On The Moon' or 'NASA qualified' text engraved in the caseback.

This Speedmaster Professional ST345.0809 (or 145.0809 for the same watch with a leather strap) was produced in very limited numbers. Although unnumbered, OMEGA produced 1300 of these Speedy Moonphase watches in 1985.

Around the same time (might have been a year later), OMEGA produced another series of Speedmaster watches (ref. 345.0810, Mark V design) with a Moonphase complication using the same movement. These were only limited to 400 pieces with regards to a titanium model and 300 pieces in gold/steel and were meant for the German market only. In total, one could say that OMEGA used 2000 caliber 866 movements in the mid-1980s for these watches.

Este Anchar tem uma caixa em aço relativamente grande (48,5mm) com uma espessura de 16mm, resistente à água até 30 Atmósferas (300 metri). Para este modelo, un Vostok Europa definiu um Esquema de core monocromatico, COM Caixa revestida un PVD negro e Mostrador branco. O Mostrador Possui indici nas posições horárias com os UNICOS numerais árabes un surgirem non bisel rotativo unidirecional.

A Vostok Europe é uma das poucas Marcas de relojoaria un apostar nos Tubos de trítio para a iluminação Noturna de alguns dos seus modelos. É uma Tecnologia que faz bastante sentido num relógio de Mergulho, uma vez que este tipo de Iluminação é permanente, enquanto o tradicional Superluminova vai perdendo sucessivamente o brilho Caso não seja "Carregado" através de uma Fonte de luz.

Un orologio, senza alcun dubbio, destinato agli appassionati puri della potenzialit� meccanica in un segnatempo. il Tourbillon Differential Academia, infatti, si segnala in termini “tecnologici”, per l’impiego di un sistema differenziale sferico abbinato al tourbillon e, ovviamente, brevettato: questo consente, nel calibro meccanico manuale DW 8002, di incrementare notevolmente la rapidit� della ricarica dell’orologio (di circa 2/3 rispetto ad un meccanismo standard) in virtù di un rotismo supplementare “planetario”, piatto e sovradimensionato che interagisce con il suddetto dispositivo differenziale sferico, costruito su doppio rotismo e collegato con il pignone calettato sull’asse della lancetta della riserva di carica. Da considerare anche il bilanciere, a quattro bracci, con altrettante masselottes di regolazione, dalla struttura non circolare, ma elaborata su due archi di cerchio periferici. Passando al Iato strutturale-estetico, la cassa di questo Tourbillon è assai complessa (sono necessarie più di 200 operazioni per portarla a termine); riunisce tre materiali e tre tonalit� di colore: il blocco portante in titanio per carrure e lunetta; inserti in gomma nera, tagliati e adattati a mano; fondello, anelli intermedi (sopra e sotto la
